The Local Taste was established to offer the owners' Slater Run Vineyard wines for sale to the public by the taste, glass and bottle. Under the direction of winery owner Kiernan Slater Patusky and winemaker Katell Griaud, a French native who received her undergraduate and graduate degrees in viticulture and winemaking from Bordeaux University, the vineyard and winery produced its first vintages of Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Rose', Cabernet Franc, and two Bordeaux style blends (First Bridge and Roots) in 2014.
The Local Taste is a wine bar and shop, tasting room for Upperville winery Slater Run Vineyards, and a gift shop. It is also a place where the community and its guests come together to enjoy life.
In addition to offering Slater Run Vineyards wines, The Local Taste offers a selection of more than 100 wines of all prices from around the world as curated by wine expert Neal Wavra. It is the place to come after work to sip your favorite wine, to experience a new wine that we love, or to purchase a selection of wines to take home for the month. And, of course, it is a place to meet your friends inside, or on the patio, or at one of the monthly events, including the oyster and BBQ "Fests" and the wine tastings. We do everything we can to satisfy your local taste while presenting the local taste.

The Local Taste also offers a small but carefully selected collection of gifts, including cutting boards and wine boxes made by local woodworking artisan Dustin White, as well as books, cheese knives, necklaces, barrel stave candle holders, picnic baskets, food items, logo hats and more. It is the perfect place to get that last minute gift or a momento to remember your time here.
